Homemade Flour Tortillas
These are fantastic and easy to make! I doubt I’ll buy from stores anymore…
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
⅓ cup extra virgin olive oil, vegetable oil or other fairly neutral flavored oil
1 cup warm water
Combine flour, salt and baking powder in mixer with dough hook. Mix. Add oil and water.. mix at med speed until well incorporated, then low speed until it forms a ball and is fairly smooth.
Turn out and cut into 12 equal pieces. Flatten with your fingers into a round shape, sprinkle flour on both sides, cover with tea towel and let rest at least for 15 minutes.. up to two hours. Roll very thin, and add to med/hot pan. Should only take, 30 to 60 seconds on the first side, flip and cook a shorter time on the other side. When I took them out I loosely folded them in thirds and stacked them on top of each other. They won’t stick and will stay soft.
