Buttermilk Fried Chicken

Buttermilk Fried Chicken Tenders

Butter Fingers!!

If you haven’t marinated your chicken in buttermilk before, you might want to start!! Tender, juicy chicken is what you’re going to get in return for minimal effort!

Keep Buttermilk in your fridge just like a staple of anything else you buy weekly. Buttermilk biscuits would have been very good here, but time was not on my side tonight!

Ingredients

3 - 4 Chicken Breasts sliced or Package of Chicken Tenders
3 eggs
Salt, Pepper, Smoked Paprika, Cowboy Cajaun
I cup or more All Purpose Flour
Bread Crumbs (Aurora Italian Style Bread Crumbs with Romano Cheese)
Buttermilk (enough to cover chicken)

Instructions

1
Slice chicken breast length way. Add to seasoned buttermilk. Let sit overnight or at least for 4 hours.
2
Remove chicken from the fridge. Get your breading ingredients lined up. Flour, whisked eggs and breadcrumbs. (This picture does not show nearly enough flour or breadcrumbs. I didn't season the buttermilk and chicken before I put it in the fridge. Oops. It's never too late!
3
Preheat your Dutch Oven, on 3-4. Not too high. This is the cooking temperature as well. Take the chicken out of buttermilk. Use your fingers it's more fun. Dredge it in seasoned flour, coat it in the eggs, cover in breadcrumbs. Put on a plate. Not long before you're ready to fry chicken, add about 1/2 inch of Crisco Oil to the preheated dutch oven.
4
I had to do two batches, and did not have to add any additional oil. Test your oil by dropping a bit of chicken or breading in. Make sure it's sizzling before you add the chicken. Lift it up once you put it in to make sure it's not sticking. Mine didn't stick at all. Cook until golden brown, 8-10 minutes. Turn.
5
Remove to plate with paper towel to obsorb oil. This isn't oily at all! Serve with dipping sauce and chips... or fries, or salad, or biscuits, waffles, anything you want!
6
Super moist chicken and wonderful crunchy, thin crust.
